From The Research Field - Spring 2011

GameKeepers - Farming For Wildlife... the name says it all. Since we changed the name we’ve had our best month ever for adding new subscribers which tells me people are hungry for information about managing habitat and wildlife. We at Mossy Oak are so proud to be able to help share information to make your time in the field, your property and your wildlife the best it can be.

Recently I had the privilege of meeting one of our newest GameKeepers and I want to share the experience with you. Gary LeVox, the lead singer of Rascal Flatts, is a huge hunter and owns a farm where he and his brother Kevin are Game- Keepers to the nth degree. I was very impressed by their down home demeanor and genuine curiosity about farming for wildlife. Gary is a huge celebrity and you’d never know it. He is “one of the boys,” and in this day in time it’s rare to see a celebrity as grounded as this guy truly is. One of their running buddies is songwriter Neil Thrasher and when they’re all together...the discussion wasn’t music...it was what to plant this spring and why. I must say, if you get a chance to catch a Rascal Flatts concert, don’t miss it and take the whole family. You won’t be disappointed.

Lastly, we’ve had some great feedback from several of our country's leading wildlife managers who have been planting the edges of their summer plots with WhistleBack. Its seems not only do the wild birds benefit but it makes an incredible secure transitional edge to a fall plot that bucks feel comfortable walking out in before dark. Reports of giant bucks that were before only seen on trail cameras at night, are now being killed in the plots with the WhistleBack edge cover. Word of this is traveling fast and has us planning more strips. Try it, it works. Now you know the latest.

Sincerely,

Bobby Cole
